Late Night with David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer says,
"Greg Adams is brilliant as a jazz soloist, R&B arranger and everything in
between. He has had so much to do with the state of funk music as we
know it, and continues to thrust the funk into the new millennium. Quite
simply, he is the best." Pop icon Huey Lewis concurs, "He worked with me
for nine years. He's simply the best in the business."
As a teenager, Adams had already earned a reputation as a musical
prodigy, playing trumpet, composing and arranging for his Bay Area high
school jazz band. A planned journey east to attend Boston's Berklee
School of Music was scrubbed when Adams opted instead to join Tower of
Power. The rest, as they say, is funk history.
